John Frawley

John is ‘a traditional astrologer, writer and educator, who has been noted for practicality and directness of approach, a depth of scholarship, and a provocative, challenging and witty style’.

“I became interested in astrology at an early age. As a child, of course, it felt good to know something that my friends didn’t know. But beyond the obvious appeal of that, I was intrigued at how astrology gave a different model of the world than what I was being taught in school. That chocolate, rabbits and ballet-dancers are all ruled by Venus showed a different way of joining the dots to make sense of life. This different perspective on reality is what still fascinates me now. Astrology opens the door to all sorts of intellectual speculation – indeed, it demands that we ask some searching questions – but, if the technique is sound, it keeps our feet firmly on the ground with the acid test of ‘this works or it doesn’t work’.

I went through the various schools of modern astrology as the books became available, but was repeatedly frustrated at their limitations. It was as if I could eat and eat, but never felt I’d had a nourishing meal. A chance encounter while doing the day-job introduced me to the work of the 17th-century astrologer William Lilly.

I’d never heard of horary before, but here was this guy who had a reputation for finding people’s lost objects with astrology. With finding a lost object you can’t be almost right. If he had been telling his clients ‘Well, you almost found it’ they would not have been impressed. So either our ancestors were seriously daft or Lilly and his contemporaries were practicing an astrology that can give precise and verifiable results. I was hooked. Here at last was that nourishing meal!

I took a course with Olivia Barclay, who had made such efforts to have Lilly’s book, Christian Astrology, reprinted, and whose teaching was, very loosely, based on that of Lilly. It was the confidence in these methods – in the objectively visible results and, beyond that, the solid core of logic that underlies them – that allowed me to devote myself to astrology as a career. In the twenty years since then I have been blessed to be able to work full-time with astrology – teaching, practicing, writing and, most of all, learning, learning, and learning.

It’s been an odd journey, with so many things that I didn’t notice on the contract of employment when I signed up. The endless variety of subjects for consultation still astonishes me: whenever I think that surely, I’ve heard everything, there is certain to be something quite unthought of on its way to me soon. While the beautiful landscapes this intellectual journey reveals astonish me even more.

I began publishing The Astrologer’s Apprentice magazine in 1996. One thing in my career of which I’m particularly proud is the revolutionary effect this had on the staid world of astrological journals. The magazine was a lot of fun to write, but as my understanding grew deeper each issue took longer and longer to prepare. After the article On the Architecture of the Soul in issue 23, I knew it was time to stop. These magazines are all available for free download online

On the back of the magazine, I was commissioned to write The Real Astrology as a satirical critique of modern astrology. This was followed by The Real Astrology Applied, The Horary Textbook and Sports Astrology. I currently have several books half-written.

In the late 1990s, I did a good deal of TV work, even hosting my own daily show Frawley and the Fish, the Fish being a well-known sports journalist. These programmes were a good forum for making verifiable predictions: I get it right or I get it wrong. The solidity of the astrological methods allowed me to get it right rather more often than did my expert sports companion.

I’ve always found lecturing to be the really fun side of the job. To be invited to stand up and speak about this subject that I love, passing on my knowledge to an eager audience – life really doesn’t get much better! Such wonderful sights I’ve seen through the lecturing, too, from the force of nature that is the human tide pouring into the Tokyo metro, to a full-grown cheetah stretched like a kitten while I scratch its belly, to standing on a balcony looking down on eagles flying far below my feet. Yes, definitely the fun side of the job.

If asked to define what distinguishes my approach to astrology, I would say it is the emphasis on plugging in the brain. We must engage critically with the texts from which we learn, not taking them at face value, accepting what is written simply because it is written. Our astrological methods must make logical sense. It’s like wiring an electrical socket: if the wires are not in the right place, nothing happens when you flick the switch. So my focus in teaching is on how to get that wiring right so when you flick the switch the light comes on. I have no interest in teaching a list of excuses for why that light doesn’t work.

Sharon Knight
I am Sharon Knight, a qualified, practicing professional astrologer with over 25 years’ experience. I hold the Certificate and Intermediate Diploma from the Faculty of Astrology and the Horary Practitioners Diploma (QHP). I am Chair of the Association of Professional Astrologers International (APAI), having been Secretary for the previous four years. I am a Fellow of the Association (FAPAI) member and have written and edited their quarterly newsletter for the past ten years.
The APAI is the only professional body in Europe that represents qualified Astrologers. Members have to hold a Diploma from a recognized educational establishment to be accepted. I have an MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology from Bath Spa University (2004) and a Diploma in Phytotherapy or, Herbalism (SAC Dip) as it is more popularly known. I am also a certified Life Coach. In addition, I am a member of the Board of the Astrological Association of Great Britain. (Charitable Incorporated Organisation reg no: 1152804).

In January 2016 I was awarded the title “Astrologer of the Year, 2016” at the 26th International Astrological Conference 2016, Organized by the Krishnamurti Institute of Astrology. In my Astrological Practice I specialize in “Traditional” astrology.
Traditional astrology has less psychological content than “modern” astrology. It is more succinct and to the point.
I do chart readings for people as well as for businesses. I also do question and answer astrology known as Horary.
In addition to Horary, my work covers Electional, Natal, Transits, Business astrology, Sun sign astrology, Synastry, Vocational and medical astrology (but I do not diagnose as I am not a Doctor). I have a regular slot on the local radio station.

As well as the UK, my client base covers the Middle East, America and Europe.
In the past I wrote the astrology page for the weekly magazine Now as well as “ghost” writing for other astrologers on Women’s monthly magazines. I wrote special “one off” articles for the Daily Mirror.
Having left London and now living in the Sussex countryside, I write for a few local monthly magazines.

I really enjoy writing sun sign astrology and trying to help people understand, that ultimately, they are responsible for their own lives.
I have lectured at the Astrological Lodge in London, given talks to various astrological groups in the South East, spoken to business and networking groups on the use of astrology in business and as a life coaching tool.
As well as working as an Astrologer, I used to work in the property and construction business becoming Deputy Director of a very large Scandinavian property group.
I have worked in the Diplomatic field and lived and worked in the Middle East and America.
I have helped set up and run various businesses with varying degrees of success, so I have a good understanding of the business world and how it works, or not!
In addition to working as an astrologer, I am also a qualified, non-medical herbalist and have successfully combined these two disciplines to help couples that were having difficulty conceiving.

During the academic 2010/2011 within the post-graduate level, she studied Hermetic Astrology. Apart from personal client sessions, Smiljana finds great inspiration in research work, which she presents in her astrological texts. A special emphasis is put on finding significant degrees in the Zodiac for a specific country in the area of Mundane Astrology or a significant degree for relations between two persons in Astrology of Relationships. In her search for responses to the question as to why something (or someone) is happening to us, Smiljana also practices Karmic Astrology, as well as the Astrology of Archetype (fixed stars, mythology). She studied International law and Law of International Organizations at the Faculty of Law of the University of Belgrade. She interrupted her studies at the last year (in 2006) and since then, she exclusively dedicated her life to the study of astrology. She has published articles in The Astrological Journal, The Mountain Astrologer blog, and the ISAR’s International Astrologer.
She was a speaker in two KAPA conferences in Serbia (Regulus in Virgo in November 2011, and Messages from Chiron in November 2013).

Misty Kuceris

As a USA-based astrologer living in Virginia, I work with clients on an international level. For the past 30 years, I have worked as an astrologer using my past experience from both the business and spiritual worlds to facilitate a person’s growth. To me it’s important that everyone find a way to balance their professional needs with their spiritual core values. For this reason, I work with both personal clients who are seeking ways to improve and understand their lives. And, I work with business owners in developing professional strategies that enable them to run a soul-centered business.

Astrology is the study of planetary cycles, whether these cycles are in your personal life or in your business world. We are all born into a specific time period which we astrologers call transits when it involves another individual and your natal chart when it involves you. This time period creates your own astrological mandala. Through knowing your mandala, you can increase your personal understanding of self.

Businesses also are created during certain cycles and also have their own natal charts. Through knowing the business mandala, a corporate or business owner can determine how best to use the upcoming cycles for strategic planning and business development.

For this reason, my consulting services include:

  • Personal consulting where the tools of astrology are used in personal development, coaching, and goal setting;
  • Corporate consulting where the tools of astrology are used for strategic planning, marketing, organizational development, and organizational restructuring.

As a business owner in the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area since 1978, I’ve held several volunteer positions, such as the Co-Chair of the Small Business Committee for the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce and a Commissioner on the Small and Disadvantaged Business Commission for Fairfax County government. I’ve developed and taught business courses for The George Washington University and Northern Virginia Community College.

As an astrologer since 1969, I am a Certified Astrological Professional (C.A.P.) with the International Society for Astrological Research (ISAR). In addition, I am committed to increasing the professionalism of astrology in the community through various organizations. I have been on the national board of the National Council for Geocosmic Research (NCGR); on the local board of the NCGR – Annapolis, Maryland chapter; and one of the founders of NOVA Astrology Group (Northern Virginia Astrology Group).

In addition to being an astrologer, I have worked with various organizations teaching meditation and also using the tool of tarot. As a Reiki master since 1998, I have worked with individuals in utilizing the Usui System Natural Healing to facilitate a better balance in their lives. And, as a balance to my own life, I have become very involved in establishing sustainable environments for both myself and others to the point that I became a Certified Horticulturalist a few years ago.

As a writer, I author an astrological column for Pathways magazine as well as monthly articles on my website. I’ve also authored other books: Trend Analysis, an annual publication on upcoming trends; Solutions, a publication which teaches individuals how to use tarot cards for meditation; and Time on Task, a time management book for educators. Other articles have appeared in ISAR’s International Astrologer magazine, NCGR Memberletter, OPA’s Career Astrologer, and Llewellyn’s Moon Signs and Herbal Almanac.

In addition to consulting, I teach classes, lecture internationally, and have appeared on programs aired in the United States, India, and the Middle East. I’ve lectured, through the gracious invitations of the organizers, at conferences sponsored by United Astrology Conference (UAC), American Federation of Astrologers (AFA), NCGR National Conference, Bejan Daruwalla’s World Predictions Conference (India), The Midwest Astrology Conference, OPA’s Astrologer’s Retreat, The Institute for Spiritual Development, Arlington Metaphysical Chapel, and several other organizations.

The tool of astrology is a wonderful way to enhance oneself and live life in a way where you can balance your material needs with your spiritual core values.
